International Music Festival of Peter Dvorsky

An annual opera music festival held at the castle Jaromerice nad Rokytnou, the castles Telc and Dalesice. A great program on held in attractive venues. Tickets from 200 CZK. Tickets available through ARS Koncert Agency.

Wood Carving Workshop

A traditional wood carving symposium held at Krivoklat Castle. This Czech Royal castle is celebrating 900th years anniversary of its foundation.

Music Festival with Bernard Beer

A traditional summer music festival presenting a great selection of the Czech pop and rock bands and interprets.

Slamak 2009 Straw Festival

(celebration)

A summer festival along the lines of the celebrations which were traditionally held at the end of the harvest. Many contests, e.g. the best hay model, hay statue, or hay castle. Come and enjoy the festival located in Radvanovice with many attractions for kids and rich cultural program.

Chopin's Festival

The international music festival dedicated to the music of Fryderyk Chopin. Leading pianists specializing in Chopin's music will be performing at venues of the fine Marianske Spa.

The Chods Fest

(ethnographic culture)

The largest ethnographic event of the Chod region with participating bagpipers and folklore ensembles from the entire country.

Historical Celebrations of Zacharia and Katherine of Valdstejn

A traditional cultural event of the Unesco listed town Telc, with a popular historical theme. A program features a period market, fencing, dancing, music and theatre performances.

20 - 23 August

Trutnov Open-Air Music Festival

The popular music festival (so called Czech Woodstock) held at a new spot "Na Pracharne" in the largest town of the Giant Mountains region. Tickets from 680 CZK. Apart from a good music, you can enjoy a rich program and accompanied services (Hare Krishna cuisine, cafeteria and tea rooms, a peace village, a tattoo salon and much more. A great tip for a family trip!

21 - 23 August

Cihelna Kraliky 2009

(military)

An annual prestigious military event held in the area of an Infantry Block K-S 14 in Kraliky in Eastern Bohemia. An interesting program on from 9 am to 5 pm. Anyone seriously interested in military should not miss special exhibitions and tours organized by the Museum of Czechoslovakian Fortification (1935-38) located at the same place (during Sat and Sun). This is a real place where you can "touch" the atmosphere of the 2nd World War. The main event is on Saturday.

Barum Rally Zlin

The 39th European Rally Championship and Czech Rally Championship. If not particularly interested in moto sport, you can take a chance to discover the town of Tomas Bata, the world known shoe producer.

Emmy Destinn Music Festival

(opera and classical music)

A chain of chamber concerts and a final opera gala concert held in memory of the famous Czech opera singer, Emmy Destinn. Concert venues located in Ceske Budejovice, Pisek, Trebon, Nove Hrady and Jindrichuv Hradec.

28 - 30 August

Vizovicke trnkobrani

(culture)

A traditional event will be held at a place where a famous liquor by Rudolf Jelinek was born. A wide-ranging program of events has something for everyone. Most of the musical events take place at the Rudolf Jelinek factory; the Vizovice craft fair takes place in the town itself. Other events include a trout fair and a brass band and a folklore festival.

29 August

The Highland Games

On this day from 10am till late the State Castle of Sychrov will be governed by the Scots as the renowned Sychrov Highland Games get underway, complete with obligatory tartans, kilts, bagpipes and whisky - the cultural heritage of Scotland.

Hefaiston at Helfstyn

The annual attractive International Exhibition of Blacksmith Art at the medieval castle Helfstyn. Entry: 20 CZK (children), 40 CZK (students), 60 CZK (adults). Come to admire the black craft of strong men!
